Transitions and Identity
Sometimes we choose to make changes in our life, but changes will happen whether we’re ready or not. Maybe you’ve just made a big move, you’re going through career change, a breakup, a loss, a life-changing diagnosis, or there’s someone new in your life. Maybe you’ve grown out of your old life, but don’t know what the new one looks like yet. Transitions can lead to questions about identity, relationships, and what we want for ourselves.
Our self image is largely shaped by family, culture, community, and other people’s ideas about who we’re supposed to be. When changes cause us to doubt, rethink, or reflect on who we are and what we’re doing, it can feel really scary. We might feel lost or even paralyzed.
I provide specialized therapy for adults across Wisconsin online who are navigating major life transitions and questions of identity. My approach is culturally responsive, strengths-based, and draws heavily on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), especially ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT skills (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), mindfulness, and parts work.
I want to help you understand what you’ve been through, recognize your strengths, separate your values from other people’s expectations, and take the next step that’s right for you. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.
If life’s been feeling like trudging through muck, let’s plod through it together.
