Adult ADHD and Executive Function Challenges
Many adults with ADHD say they feel like they haven’t lived up to their true potential. ADHD is more than just difficulty paying attention to boring tasks, it’s also struggling to stay organized, missing deadlines, losing and forgetting important things, challenges with relationships and emotions, and even trouble relaxing. It means feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or even burnt out from trying to meet society’s expectations. The distress caused by a lifetime of these experiences can lead to low self-worth and lack of self-trust.
ADHD is not a lack of effort or laziness, and certainly not low intelligence. ADHD is a neurological difference, and with the right support, ADHD doesn’t have to keep you from living a meaningful life that you love.
I provide specialized therapy for ADHD to adults online. My approach to therapy is culturally responsive, strengths-based, and draws heavily on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), especially ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT skills (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), mindfulness, and parts work.
Together we’ll sift through negative beliefs and low self esteem, identify strengths and gifts you might not have even known you have, and help you to feel more at peace with yourself and others to achieve your goals. We can also look at improving executive functions and practicing practical skills to make life a little easier in a neurotypical world.
